Adidas in to the Metaverse
NFTs, although revolutionary for the field of virtual finance is still a misunderstood concept when it comes to the everyday population. The concept of giving value to something not tangible can be hard to understand for people who lack the knowledge of all the functionalities and benefits the intangible item brings. But what if, as a way to attract and educate these untaught individuals, we tie the virtual object with a physical one? Will it give the common audience an easier time understanding its value while on the other hand giving crypto enthusiast and already existing members of the ecosystem a reward for their support? Will it bring more mainstream attention to this relatively new market? Well fortunately we do not have to ponder any longer about this concept thanks to the new initiatives from the world-famous brand ADIDAS: Into the metaverse NFT and Adidas for Prada re-source.
Into the metaverse NFT:
The first initiative is a limited-edition digital collectible that celebrates their partnership with NFT pioneers and initiative leaders gmoney, PUNKS Comic and Bored Ape Yacht Club while offering holders exclusive collaborative physical merchandise and ongoing digital utility.
The project is divided in 4 phases also known as product redemption periods. During defined time periods in 2022, NFT holders can redeem physical merchandise by visiting the Into the Metaverse website and verifying token ownership. When you claim a physical product, your NFT is burned. In return, you receive a physical product and a replacement NFT with an increased phase number.
Participants in the final product redemption period will burn their Phase 1, 2 or 3 ERC-1155 token and receive a Phase 4 ERC-721 token. As the Phase 4 token is the final token in this series, it cannot be used to claim Into the Metaverse physical product.
Adidas for Prada re-source:
A collaboration between progressive and innovative brands ADIDAS and Prada, Adidas for Prada re-source is an ambitious first-of-its-kind NFT collaboration that will feature user-generated and creator-owned art. The project aims to bring together participants across fashion, design, and crypto to co-create a large-scale digital artwork inspired by the physical Re-Nylon collection.
3,000 community-sourced artworks will be minted as NFTs and compiled as tiles in a single mass-patchwork NFT designed by renowned creative coder and digital artist, Zach Lieberman.
Lieberman’s culminating mosaic will be minted as the final NFT and will be sold as a one-of-one NFT in an auction on digital art marketplace SuperRare from January 28–31. The NFT will be displayed as a large-scale digital art installation in selected Prada and adidas flagship stores worldwide, bringing the compelling imagery of the digital campaign to life.
